I love my music and I think that the Ipod Nano represents the next level of portable music. At just 3.5 inches long and 1.6 wide its about as long as a finger, has a colour screen and its 4GB storage capacity enebles it to store up to 1000 songs!
Now to all those people who already have the 20,40 or 60GB Ipod who are saying "yeah well mine holds 10,000 songs" blah blah blah I would say yes, it does indeed hold 10,000 songs, but I doubt you can listen to them all on your way to work in the morning. For me, the whole point of the Ipod was to have a music collection you could travel with - go away somewhere half way around the world, find a power supply, plug your speakers in and bang, ur away! No CD cases, no hassle.
As usual when a new product hits the streets there is an initial rush to buy by all the people who want the newest gear. With the Ipod, it won over it's rivals purely on looks, luckily for apple the rest of the package was not bad either, certainly not bad enough to put people off buying one.
So, after wrapping up the market with good looks and big storage capacities Apple have decided to go back to the drawing board and design something practical, great looking and affordable, The Ipod Nano. I think this is a perfect unit. Small and slim its 4GB storage holds 1000 songs which is more than enough to bop round the streets with or link to your car. Yeah sure 40GB is better then 4GB but what do you need it for? The ONLY reason I can think of is going travelling for a while.
My advice would be to pick one of these babies up because they are gonna be good for at least 2-3 years before something else comes along that can challenge it, and my bet is that soon there will be a unit that stays in your room, with ALL your songs on it linked to the stereo with the simple fuction of putting whatever tracks you want onto the portable bit of the unit to take out.
